DSA 2024 Presentation: Launch of the AENBCRV and AHRV support vehicles

During the 2024 edition of the DSA exhibition, Deftech, a defense technology company, unveiled for the first time two new support vehicles: the Armored Nuclear, Biological, and Chemical Reconnaissance Vehicle (AENBCRV) and the Armored Heavy Recovery Vehicle (AHRV). These vehicles play a crucial role as force multipliers, providing essential capabilities for informed decision-making by commanders as well as for recovery and maintenance of military equipment. The AENBCRV, based on the AV8 Gempita vehicle, is designed to perform reconnaissance and threat analysis for CBRN missions, while the AHRV, derived from a Volvo FMX 8×8 chassis, is equipped to recover damaged vehicles, ensuring their repair and rapid return to the front lines.

During the DSA 2024 exhibition, Deftech showcased two innovative support vehicles that are set to revolutionize military operations. The first, the AENBCRV, is the armored engineering vehicle designed for nuclear, biological, and chemical reconnaissance. Its modified design allows for the integration of multiple sensor and sampling systems, making it a highly specialized piece of equipment. The vehicle is based on the AV8 Gempita, the spearhead of Malaysian defense technology.

distinctive features of the new vehicles

The first notable aspect is the weight of the AENBCRV, with a combat weight of 26,180 kg and a payload capacity of 3,000 kg. It is powered by a Deutz V8 diesel engine, capable of reaching a maximum speed of 100 km/h. Equipped with an adjustable height suspension, it offers a ground clearance varying between 205 and 520 mm. This vehicle is not only robust, but it is also equipped with a remote-controlled weapon station, thereby increasing its defense capability.

strategic functions in military operations

In addition to its technical features, the AHRV, or Armored Heavy Recovery Vehicle, has been developed to support the recovery and maintenance of damaged vehicles in the field. Its powerful crane arm can lift up to 30 tons, and operationally, it can function at a distance. By ensuring crew protection with level 2 armor, the AHRV demonstrates Deftech’s commitment to ensuring the efficiency and safety of military operations. These advancements promise to enhance the capabilities of the Royal Malaysian Army in the field.
